Presidency takes action on Tambuwal

In response to the defection of Speaker Aminu Tambuwal to the APC, the President has (according to reports) directed the Deputy Speaker of the house to to formally write the Speaker, to reconvene within one week or face impeachment.

Speaker Tambuwal had declared his defection to the opposition APC, right before adjourning the house until the 3rd of December, in order to protect his position from intrigues for the time being.

According to Vanguard, “A source close to the presidency who spoke to Vanguard under the condition of anonymity said if after one week Tambuwal fails to carry out the instruction, 120 signatures would be gathered to frustrate him out of office.

Those present in the meeting held at the Villa on Wednesday night include the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio, Gabriel Suswan of Benue, the Attorney General to the Federation, Adokie Muhammed, Leader of the House, Mulikat Akande-Adeola, the Deputy Leader Leo Ogor and the Deputy Speaker.”
